Bruce R. Pray Graduate Student Relocation Grant

Bruce R Pray Grants logoThanks to the generosity of Professor Emeritus Bruce R. Pray (Department of South & Southeast Asian Studies), the Institute for South Asia Studies is able to offer the Bruce R. Pray Graduate Student Relocation Fellowship.

Three to four grants (each worth $3000) to assist incoming South Asia-focused graduate students relocate to Berkeley. The money will be disbursed to the successful recipients following their arrival in Berkeley. All applicants must be nominated by a UC Berkeley faculty member, who should send the following materials to Dr. Anirban Gupta-Nigam at anirbangn@berkeley.edu:

  • A CV of the nominated student
  • A single-page letter summarizing the nominated student's research project, its significance to the field, and how a Pray Fellowship will advance faculty or departmental efforts to bring a nominated student to Berkeley.

Deadline for nomination: March 1, 2024

Decisions announced: March 5, 2024
