Synopsis: Rabindranath Tagore is widely regarded as the greatest modern Indian writer. Of his entire literary oeuvre perhaps his little play The Post Office (Dak Ghar) has held the most direct, intimate and powerful appeal to audiences in India and around the world.
Daakghar does not follow theatre oriented rules but it is a unique strategic art to depict a symbolic drama. It surrounds and flourishes around a single emotion. A timid, sick and helpless boys relentless curiosity, eager and intense desire to be free from restraint, control and bondage and explore the unknown world of carefree nature.
The deep realization of the poet's personal life is portrayed through Amals character. It portrays his love for nature and thirst for Eternal Beauty and his own childhood, which was confined within the four walls and he was under a strict regime.
The intense desire of the human soul to unite with the Ultimate Soul of ETERNAL BLISS is portrayed through Amols character. Amol is that desperate and eager soul who is attracted towards the endless or God ( Annonto Ashim). Poets this realisation of God is the main inspiration of conceptualisation of Dakghar.
