Join us for a talk by feminist campaigner, writer, visiting professor at New York University and founder of Indian anti-sex trafficking organization, Apne Aap, Ruchira Gupta .

Ruchira Gupta's talk will explore bottom-up approaches to end sex-trafficking and the intersecting inequalities that create its vulnerabilities. it will also delve into the aestheticization of exploitation in a world where the market can justify anything.

About the Speaker
Ruchira Gupta is a feminist campaigner, writer, visiting professor at New York University and founder of Indian anti-sex trafficking organization, Apne Aap, which has helped more than 20,000 girls and women exit prostitution systems. She was instrumental in the passage of the UN Protocol to end Trafficking in Persons, the US Trafficking Victim Protection Act and Section 370 I.P.C , India's anti-trafficking law. She advocated for the creation of the Trafficking Fund for Survivors at the United Nations by addressing the UN General Assembly and taking survivors to speak there and to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. She has won an Emmy, the Clinton Global Citizen award, tand the highest French civilian distinction, Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit). Her dream is to create a world in which no human being is bought or sold.
