The Tagore Program on Literature, Culture and Philosophy at UC Berkeley is thrilled to announce Celebrating Rabindranath Tagore, a two-week long virtual festival on Rabindranath Tagore. Featuring lectures and presentations by eminent scholars of Tagore Studies, Rabindrasangeet performances by world renowned artists, as well as a staging of Dak Ghar, a play by Tagore's, this festival will showcase the life and legacy of Rabindranath Tagore.

The seventh event in this series is a panel discussion on "Tagore and Nationalism" between sociologist and clinical psychologist, Ashis Nandy, specialist in intellectual history and Indian politics,Sudipta Kaviraj, and economist Pranab Bardhan.

Launched in Fall 2019, and housed in the Institute for South Asia Studies, the Tagore Program on Literature, Culture and Philosophy at UC Berkeley, is the first of its kind in the US. Designed to showcase the life and legacy of Rabindranath Tagore, the program sponsors talks and workshops on Tagore, as well as semester-long visiting professorships in Tagore Studies at UC Berkeley.
