The Institute for South Asia Studies offers a limited number of grants for UC Berkeley faculty and lecturers in support of their extraordinary research work. Recent awardees and their projects are listed below:

Spring 2020 Faculty Research Support Grant
  • Gregory Maxwell Bruce (South & Southeast Asian Studies) in support of his work at The Journal of Urdu Studies. The journal is the only peer-reviewed, academic journal in English dedicated to the study of Urdu. Dr. Gregory Maxwell Bruce, Lecturer in Urdu at UC Berkeley, co-founded and co-edits the journal. The Journal of Urdu Studies published its inaugural issue in January 2020.
