Sheikh Waheed Baksh

Waheed achieved his bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 2014. He was born in Dhaka, but has lived and traveled all over Bangladesh with his family. He began to help in his first year of undergraduate study, leading a project for the underprivileged majority. In 2011, he volunteered, and later led the building of the first textbook-based library for the VI (visually impaired) students in Bangladesh. He continues to conduct a study to improve the medium through which a VI student is instructed, their accessibility to textbooks and other necessary learning materials. From 2012 to 2014, he along with a team of enthusiastic youth leaders, created a nation-wide NGO network connecting 20 local NGOs reaching half of Bangladesh. From January 2015, he has been leading a project that runs a preparatory school for the children of sex-workers. With wide-experience in organizing fund raising events in Bangladesh, he is especially skilled in community management, online campaigning and promotion and project management. Skills he gained working full time at a creative design start-up as a Project Manager. “Bangla” is his mother tongue. He has advanced proficiency in English and elementary proficiency in French.
