Cristin McKnight Sethi

Cristin McKnight Sethi is a doctoral candidate in the Art History department. She works on South Asian art and visual culture of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries under the guidance of Joanna Williams. Her Master’s thesis (University of Texas at Austin, 2008),“Rajah of Bhurtpore in Durbar”: Image-Making and Royal Practice in Colonial India, explores the production and circulation of photographic prints in colonial India. She is currently researching her dissertation on global practices of collecting and displaying phulkari embroidery from the Punjab. She is supported by a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship.
